Reilly and basketball...

We have spent the past couple of months going from game to game with Mally and Reilly and love it, but this year was bittersweet for Reilly...he tried out for varsity, many of the boys that have played with him the past few years did not try out because they were afraid they would not make varsity...he tried out and did not make it (of course I am a mom and you know that my first instinct is to stand up and be mad... why didn't he!?!) but he took such a positive outlook, he said "yes, now I will get to play!"  And "PLAY" he has!   He is in all but a couple of seconds every game!  He probably would have been on that varsity bench all but a few seconds each game!  he has gotten so good!  The fact that he is 6 foot 2 does help a little but he has perfected the blocked shot!  He is a great rebounder and makes half our points a lot of games!  He is enjoying it so much that he wants to try out for highschool ball next year!  He has acquired a passion for the game!

Their team is in tournament and he got to play his sweet cousin Peter again...Peter is a little (haha) shorter than Reilly and Reilly and he smack talked all game!  Peter was bumping and fouling Reilly and Reilly was blocking Peters shots!  They had fun with eachother!  After the game an old man that we have seen before at games came up to Reilly and told him that he had been watching him and if he kept playing like he was, he'd be playing highschool ball!  Reilly was beaming!  Turns out this sweet man coached basketball for years, even coached Reilly's coach!
