basketball fun!

Each year during Catholic Schools Week at our school they have a varsity (8th graders) vs. Faculty basketball game.  The whole school cheers them on!  Parents and faculty that are not playing are in the stands... it is a big deal!  Faculty makes a habit of "cheating"...principal is referee and makes bogus calls on those 8th graders and throws the ball into teachers...it is funny, but somehow those 8th graders see no humor in it!  The teachers say it is to level the playing field some!  Reilly was a hit... the sweet third grade teacher held onto his shirt as he was dribbling down the court to stop him, instead he proceeded to drag her down the court, still dribbling, shot and scored!  Crowd cheered him on!  These antics continued through the game...faculty won by one!

Hagan designed and made Reilly's game shirt...all because of Reilly's basketball shoes, an obnoxious pair of shiny red and yellow things, but they were a good price, school colors, his size and they are now a conversation piece!  When he does well in a game, we say "it has to be the shoes"  His friends make cracks that they are his Ronald McDonald shoes or they reference to Dorothy "there's no place like home!"  Hagan found them at his work (a shoe store) and brought them home for Reilly... we had to get them!

Our daughter is celebrating Catholic Schools Week at her school, too. She's in kindergarten, so she made cards for Teacher Appreciation Day and Friday is free-dress day, so she's really looking forward to that! Those basketball shoes are pretty darn cool. :)
