a beautiful easter morning...

I really think that easter is my favorite time of year, I do love the bunnies and baskets, but the masses are so meaningful and touching at this time of year. For the past few years Flynn and I have gone to the Holy Thursday and Good Friday ones and left the kids at home, but Fr. Dexter made the point that going to just Easter mass is only a third of the celebration of the tridium so this year we took all 4 to each of the three services...they are long (1 1/2 -2 hrs each) and dark and quiet, and A LOT of the kneeling, standing that Catholics get made fun of for, but they all went and I think enjoyed them (at least did not complain!). They asked new questions, observed and participated. Hagan was chosen to have his feet washed on Thursday and Nora paid close attention and has "volunteered" to be the child next year (don't know if that will happen). These celebrations are so symbolic and I hope and feel that they brought a deeper meaning of what easter really is to our children.

Our family easter was wonderful... at the last minute we got picked to host and had a great time visiting with all the Doyles, not many hunters (a lot of hiders), and a few siblings and spouses and Nana hung around into the evening and enjoyed the beautiful weather on the patio while kids entertained themselves...
