my lenten journey...

EEK! I have been planning (avoiding!) to organize the attic for a LONG time now and decided that it could be my lenten project. I am an obsessively organized person and this is the one "skeleton in my closet, umm attic (there could be a real skeleton up there under all that clutter!)... it is my "Monica closet" (remember from Friends?) All that aside, when we renovated they put in new ceilings through out the house, BUT in doing so converted our nice floored attic into a small narrow "hallway" sized floor... fastforward almost 5 years of accumulated stuff and tada, our attic! The scary or I guess amazing thing is that I can go up there for something and find it right away! But the attic has been calling and it is now posted and therefore MUST be done! If I have "before" pictures, I will have to have "after"!

How is this my "lent" project? It is something that I have been putting off, it is a cleansing of sorts! It will definately occupy my 40 days... I can reflect during that time. I will not be able to shop, so I will be simplifying. I WILL fill bags to donate, that can be helping others (I read on one girls blog that she is going to try to do 40 bags in 40 days... I guess if I count trash and donate, it could be 40 bags!) And I just WANT to do this for myself! Cheer me on!

The one thing that is positive about this cleaning as opposed to the reorganizing of a closet or completely moving the kids room around while they are at school is that it is out of sight, out of mind (how it got so bad in the first place!) but I can work and work and just stop and close the attic door! I AM going to accomplish this! After Easter we will have an organized and less filled attic! If I can keep the downstairs straight and organized, surely I can do this! After all, there are not 4 little destroyers up there daily!
