Nora and I checked out the book Thunder Cake by Patricia Polacco a few weeks ago and since then she has begged to make thunder cake... my response (as in the book) you can only mke thunder cake when there is thunder! She has waited patiently through this beautiful weather that we have had and yesterday when we heard the forcast for today she said "YES.... we can make our thunder cake!" Today was definately worth the wait... a BIG storm! We got it mixed and made, homemade cake AND icing!!! (I am wondering how and why I did this on a non birthday occasion!) Nora even wanted 7 strawberries on top just like in the book!
Thoughts from a 4 year old on the rainy and very windy day today... "Mommy I know why it is raining and what the rain is. Up in heaven there are a lot of people with buckets and a sprinkler and they are playing up there!" Things- leaves and some trash blew around all day, "Mom, I know why there is a lot of trash blowing around. People up in heaven are having snack and they throw the wrappers down here!" She has this simplistic outlook on politics too!
