a little getaway...but not away!

girls at camp and boys at a weekend concert so we ventured out kayaking some new places!

day 1...Rock Island and Collins River

day 2...Piney River

I was not as happy on this one! Current was moving fast and quite a few tricky little rapids had me spun around four or more times and I was pushed into a few trees... at one point I yelled "I DO NOT LIKE THIS!!!" But on a positive note, the river area that is called "the flippin piney" did not flip me! Never out of boat! In the end it was fun!

we treated ourselves to a yummy mini shrimp boil once we got home as we listened to the pouring down rain!

day 3...breakfast at home...the best shrimp and grits we've ever had!

then off to historic Liepers Fork area...(another beautiful drive!)

driving through the area that my moms parents grew up in...

i saved a tiny turtle!

beautiful old and new barns...

(and a little update... visited my grandparents and was telling them all about our visit and my grandfather said he was baptized in this little creek near his school!)
