Hagan started college this fall and is at a state school...instate tuition and that wonderful lottery scholarship that only works in state...but he has a great interest in becoming a landscape architect. Problem: our state does not offer that at the undergrad level...solution: you can attend state schools that do offer it at their instate tuition, but that wonderful hope lottery scholarship is not honored...we have talked and talked of what to do and decided to tour LSU which has a great program. We were very impressed and got to visit many classes at all levels in the college of landscape architecture...he loved it! The plan is to be a transfer student in the fall...
Campus was beautiful and had a fun visit in New Orleans as well and got to see three camp girls that we are a little fond of!
this word/name is everywhere!! We are masters at pronouncing it now!
Camelia's (ironically there are two locations...flynn and I were eating lunch at one and had no idea til later that hagan and the girls ate lunch at the other one!)
flynn and I split an egg and bacon burger! I am sure it was healthy!
we are so thankful for our great friend Tom who sent us off with a list of great places to eat in both cities and what to try at those places! We ate a little too well!
my morning smoothie at Louie's a great little diner near campus...guys ate more hearty breakfasts of pecan pancakes, cajun home fries and sausage...
lunch at Chimes at campus entrance...Delicious cajun food and cool atmosphere...amazing gumbo!!!
met up with nora's first camp counselor on campus...sweet miss b and then ate dinner with Mally's first counselor that we all keep in touch with...courtney! She had us eat at a great local bar type joint (Chelsea's Cafe) with neat music and great homemade soup and gumbo and wonderful grilled cheeses on homemade focaccia bread...
heart cloud!
hagans first real new orleans snow cone!
hagan and camp friend Shae at the beautiful square/St Louis Cathedral... he got to go to mass there..
first biegnet at cafe dumonde
on a street car...
we needed lots of coffee... early mornings each day!
church on campus! He should feel "at home"!
and then headed home...
finished the visit with an early morning stop at Cafe Dumonde...and lunch at Dreamland in Tuscaloosa...
there was a familiar highschool golf shirt on the ceiling! That was fun to see! Wondering who else from home made the trip there!
