one is out and others are busy busy busy with end of the year activities!

see this silly girl? Those little eyes give us trouble in school from time to time but she is a trooper and oh so determined. They do this thing called a "mad minute"...doing 100 problem in five minutes, you start with addition, then subtraction, master that and onto mixed, the multiplication, and division and so on... this little girl can add and subtract 4 digit numbers with borrowing and carrying...but that many numbers on a page in fast time makes those eye muscles hurt! Her eyes wander, she rubs them, cries, head hurts... the doctors solution: just don't do it, it does not count as a grade. But Nora responded with a quick "no, I have to!" So we practice and practice, making those eyes hurt worse, and even though she is getting 100s on multiplication and division and every math test for that matter, she still cannot finish those 100 addition in 5 minutes and then it happened! She was ecstatic, teachers happy and we all celebrated!
Reilly finished the year with the highest grade in his algebra class!!!
Mally and her project on Uzbekistan...she made "olma pechenyesi" to share in the cultural fair...kind of like a baked apple dumpling!

Hard to believe we're approaching the end of the school year, isn't it? Congrats to your kids on their accomlishments and on your son't high school graduation! Looks like a fun party - great cake and love the idea of the notes on the table paper. I'm sure it meant so much to him. (Love his orange tie bow - is that an ode to his future school? :)
